The Institute sets up Academic Committee and Management Committee. Academic Committee is consisted of senior experts from Sun Yat-sen University and other well-known institutions of higher learning in the field of gastrointestinal diseases as well as its 11 members, including 3 experts from Sun Yat-sen University. Management Committee is consists of task force leaders. With regard to the management system:

I.Director, executive director, executive deputy director, deputy director are responsible for daily affairs, such as: formulation and implementation of management practices, allocation of laboratories, coordination of work arrangements, management of scientific research files, organization of academic activities, management of logistics and so forth. The executive director is responsible for subject construction, and the executive deputy director is responsible for assessment of administrative staff and public service area staff.

II. Implementation of PI system. According to work needs, an PI can employ research assistants and technical staff.
(I) Institute venue: The Institute is responsible for the allocation of venues. Namely, a certain area of experiment and office space is allocated for responsible persons and members of task teams in accordance with the formulated rules.
(II) Equipment and management: Large-scale public equipment is discussed and purchased by the laboratory and managed by the public platform. According to the paid use principle, it is opened to the community. Specialized technical services staffs are configured, who are responsible for use, maintenance, and management of equipment.
(III) Cooperation and open: The cooperative research funding system is implemented, and the open cooperative research fund is established..
(IV) Incentive mechanism: The people who achieve scientific and technological achievements (for example, publishing academic papers in high-level periodicals, obtaining international and national patents, and receiving awards on provincial and ministerial levels or above) will be rewarded according to the impact factors, benefits generated, and the award winning level. The project leaders and relevant personnel who do not timely complete the scientific research plan will be subject to the appropriate form of supervision measures.
(V) Institutionalization: The Institute adheres to the principle of institutionalized management, develops various management regulations, rewards and penalties regulations so forth, which are strictly implemented.
